We need a tool that can report the differences between two mysql databases schema dumps. The intent is to be able to know about schema changes before we update in local and remotely installed instances. We may not have visibility to the public database from intranet installations and we still need to be able to know what is different between databases. The tool should provide a way to connect to the databases using command line options, or an include file with the proper settings. When given only one database to connect to (or a dump flag?) the schema should be output in a format that the tool can also digest [referred to as mysqlschema in this description], output default should be stdout or a comand line parameter to name the file. Given two databases to connect to or a database and a mysqlschema file, provide a list of changes, by tables. [referred to as mysqldiff in this description] Mysqldiff output should be mysql commands necessary to bring the two db's or db/mysqlschema file into agreement.
