SocialEngine, ZF1and ZF2 Question

I recently bought a Social Engine software license, which I plan to use inside ZF2. Social Engine is developed using ZF1. My goal is to use Social Engine as a base for a specialized web application and to write new modules as plugins for the social Engine Core. These new modules are very specialized and I plan to develop them in ZF2. There will be absolutely no modification to the Social Engine code. From my reading, I am assured that it is technically possible to use a zf1 application in a zf2 project. I'm not sure tough if the technical details change if the ZF2 modules must be plugins for the ZF1 app. My question: Is what I'm thinking technically feasible? What are the options open to me? To bid to answer this question you must be experienced in Social Engine, as well as, both ZF1 and ZF2. Thank you
