Hello, I am starting a for profit business called “Beyond the Child” it is a program that effectively addresses the Social and emotional needs of children so that they are able to engage in the learning process in schools and homes. Children are being expelled from school including preschoolers, for disciplinary and behavioral reasons. Evidence shows that preschool suspensions and expulsions can damage self-esteem, set students back academically, and increase the likelihood that they’ll face similar discipline and drop out in later grades The majority of these children have experienced severe trauma, example: death, domestic violence etc., foster care, and homelessness. Most educational systems, community agencies, and families are not aware of the effects of trauma. Some of the effects can even cause delays in speech and language, and brain development from infancy on. Some of the behaviors can stem from a disability that has not yet been diagnosed, and or from trauma. My goal is to create a pathway of lifelong success for these children. The one on one support will help the teachers in the classroom. The advocacy will begin with the child and by connecting them and their families in the right direction for the appropriate services in the community. We will collaborate with the appropriate multidisciplinary teams. Other services provided: One on one coaching for teachers and careivers. Workshop presentations, and keynote speaker. Service population: 2yrs-grade school Title of staff providing services: Behavior Advocate Specialist Providing services to but not limited: School Districts, Regional Centers, Preschools, Daycare, Foster Care agencies and other agencies that provide wellness for children.
