Good morning,
Thank you for the opportunity to bid on your proposal. I am a former journalist and marketing specialist with exceptional editing and proofreading skills.
I entered the workforce as a newspaper reporter for a small weekly paper in northern Maine. Because of limited budgets, I was trained to edit peer submissions, to proofread the overall content and to even lay out sections of the publication.
Several years later, I transitioned into marketing for a large foodservice company in New England. Our department was responsible for putting together 60 - 80 page magazines every month for distribution to our customers: independent restaurants. Our graphic designer put the magazines together, and I was responsible for editing each recipe and proofreading the magazine in its entirety. It was here that I won the adoration of our designer because I could spot an errant double space at first glance and once saved her from the embarrassment of featuring "Steak and Sprimp" on the cover.
Additionally, because of newspaper layout experience, the quarterly task of designing our employee newsletter quickly became my responsibility.
As a freelancer, I have edited the gamut of material. I have also edited several cookbooks; the most recent required such extensive editing that the publisher rehired me to ghostwrite several sections.
Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions or would like to see examples of my work.
Thank you for you time,
Mariah Patterson
