In default Odoo entering serial numbers or Lot numbers of products takes huge amount time while shipping or receiving, entire process you must perform manually where you must open wizard and add/select add them one by one that can be time consuming & frustrating. allow users to just scan barcode of serial number on picking(shipment/Delivery) and those serial number are created (when its shipment) or linked(when its delivery) automatically, so easily on your picking process.
