Computer Reboot Script

Every Saturday we reboot all our PCs. Currently this is a manual process which is done by using the “shutdown /I” GUI and manually adding PCs that need rebooting. I would like to automate the process. There are some PCs that should never be rebooted and are in an AD permanent exclusion group. Sometimes users will request we do not reboot their PCs that weekend so we add their computer to a temporary exclusion group. After we do the reboots we remove everyone from the temporary group so that their machines will reboot the week after. Example Environment OU’s ou=London, ou=computers, dc=contoso, dc=com ou=Paris, ou=computers, dc=contoso, dc=com ou=NY, ou=computers, dc=contoso, dc=com Groups Reboot_permanent_exclusion Reboot_Temp_Exclusion It should be one script that accepts the location as input. Let’s use Paris as an example: Input should be something like [login to view URL] -Location "paris" The script should 1) Query the Paris OU for computers whose OS Name contains “Windows 10” (to avoid accidentally rebooting servers) 2) Exclude PC’s that are in either Reboot_permanent_exclusion or Reboot_Temp_Exclusion 3) Force a reboot of PCs with a 5 minutes warning notice to users. 4) Remove all computers from the group Reboot_Temp_Exclusion 5) Log the following a. Time of execution and command that was entered b. Result of each computer that was rebooted / any error messages c. Users that were removed from the Reboot_Temp_Exclusion group Hopefully that should be enough information but please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks
