Create a wordpress plugin to connect wordpress to [login to view URL] API.
- The plugin will publish [login to view URL] events as custom posts (type "meetup_event").
- The plugin will have an admin panel with tabs (as required) accesible from admin panel sidebar menu.
API:
Functionality:
1. The user introduces his meetup API key from plugin admin settings
[login to view URL]
2. Wordpress connects to [login to view URL] API and gets all the groups the user has joined.
3. Once the user gets his group list, he can select which of those groups he wants to sync with wordpress and the period in months (month to the past (past events), months to the future (upcoming events) and max events per group).
4. The plugin "sends" to wordpress as custom fields of custome post type "meetup_event":
- Event ID
- Event Name
- Event Time
- Event Description
- Event URL
- Venue (all)
- Group name
- Group category (id, name, shortname)
- Group photos (highres_link)
- Group urlname
3. The plugin syncs the [login to view URL] events from the selected groups and publishes them as custom posts (type "meetup_event"):
- Meetup Group Category Name/s value will be used as "meetup_event" costume post "category" value.
- Extracts the first image from the [login to view URL] "Event Description" field (external link tag type similar to <img src="[login to view URL]"/>, adds it to the media library and uses it as the featured image for the new custome post.
- In addition to attach them as costume fields the plug includes into the wordpres costume post content all the fields as plain text (one per line).
4. The plugin updates automatically the events published in wordpress once X days (X to be configurable from admin settings). The plugin checks if there are new events and if it finds events that have been created since the last plugin sync, publishes them (post duplication should be avoided).
- The plugin should have a checkbox so if a "meetup_event" custome post is deleted using wordpress admin dashboard we can choose to sync them again, or not (f.ex. "do you want to sync again meetup events that you have deleted? yes/no).
5. "meetup_event" custom posts should be accesible from admin dashboard. It will be possible to add them tags and categories.
6. Test and demostrate that the plugin works correctly creating a page that shows the stream of custome posts as regular posts (create new template that loads 30 custome posts ("meetup_event" type).
- Posts ordered by meetup event time timestamp. Only show upcoming events, starting from today.
- Should be tested using the free theme Hueman (duplicate and use as template the [login to view URL] file):
