File directory search/renaming script/tool

Hello, Script should work within directory right? It'll automatically find .txt files in a directory and do task?

It's a simple requirement and it can be done quickly and efficiently in python and we can use threading to get it done quickly.

This seems fairly easy. Would any of the filenames be very long? (filenames longer than about 255 characters might be a problem.) Would the filenames be plain ASCII, or might they contain Unicode characters? Will the text files be in ANSI encoding (windows-1252) or UTF-8 or UTF-16LE, or any of the above? I imagine you'll run the program with no parameters, and it will operate on the current working folder? It could report progress to stdout. For errors, it could popup a message box, report a message on stderr, and exit with a return code.
