I have a website in production serving images as a private-instagram-like social network. Images are compressed to 100kb, and the most recent ones are located in a cache folder that empties each 5 days (25k files average and working fine). It has been serving .php pages containing queries with 20 jpeg images at once with good speed for some years. Since yesterday the pages containing this 20 images list (a scroll timeline with just the 20 images) are taking 1.3min to load. No reason why. Even loading 3 images goes 30 secs. Loading no images is fast. I give to the developer the execution URL to check the speed, and a PHP text file with the code. I can't give acces to the server, so the developer must modify the code and send back the changes for me to upload it to the server, then check the results via URL. Server is running fast. Just when loading images goes slow. Maybe some library, js, external link, or resource is makint it slow, not the images itself. I have webmin access that I can check and tell information back if needed. 50€ unique milestone for solving it. "Hello Bran", how are you? I have nearly 20 years of server experience. A question: Do you use any control panel (canel, plesk, etc), or do you change your server settings using just the terminal (ssh)? I will have to analyze your server to find out the reason for the slow loading of images. We will probably have to configure php-fpm together with lightspeed (free) + a good CDN (to replicate the images on other cdn servers, greatly reducing the response time). There's a good chance I can solve your problem.
