I am getting a very frustrating error on my VPS when running a large script that curl's a large amount of urls. I am a web developer myself but I have finally given up and am willing to hand this over for someone else to fix as my server experience is minimal. When doing 200 curl's and then converting the source into arrays my script runs just fine without any errors, however when running it with 500 curls I get the following error inside my error_log: Connection reset by peer: mod_fcgid: error reading data from FastCGI server The server is running centos with plesk and my php script is built inside codeigniter (again the script works fine this is a server issue) So far I have increased all [login to view URL] memory and timeout limits to 1 hour (more than enough) as well as the nginx and mod_fcgi limits to 1 hour and still the error persists. The fact the script runs fine but flags an error when I am running just over a certain ammount says to me it is a problem with a restriction on the server but it could possibly be something else. I am looking for someone with server and some php experience who can logon my vps and fix the error.

The problem is most likely mod_fcgid related so tweaking these modules options should solve your problem. I would go this way: 1. FcgidMaxProcessesPerClass - default is 100 - I would increas this to 300 and after restarting the web server I would check if 500 curl's are processed OK now If this isn't the problem these further option may need to be modified: 2. FcgidIOTimeout - default is 40 - I would try increasing this to 150 if the first option increase doesn't work 3. FcgidMaxProcesses - default is 1000 - I would try increasing this to 3000 if the above option increases don't work These options are set in the web server config file. Hello, It could be the fastcgi concurrent connection limits. Are the URL's you're pulling from the local server? How much RAM memory does it have? That could be another cause of the problem. I may be able to tweak it but if it's lack of RAM then that's a different story.

Hello Simon, Assuming that you have mod_fcgi limits set to 1 hour, how long the script runs for before you get the error? It could be related to PHP_FCGI_MAX_REQUESTS. Regards, Dmitri
