(a) ‘Agency theory is relevant in explaining several corporate finance decisions and phenomena.’ Critically evaluate the extent to which agency theory and related empirical evidence may be used to explain, capital structure, dividend and going public decisions of listed companies. (Weight 40%) (b) Using information from the annual report and accounts of one FTSE100 company, identify and critically evaluate the company’s dividend and gearing policies. (Weight 30%) (c) Analyse the theoretical , empirical and other factors that influence listed companies to restructure their business portfolios. (Weight 30%) Criteria are as follows: • Deadline is before 25th of May. • The length of the assessment should not exceed 6000 words, excluding appendices and references. The essay should be word-processed with 1.5 spacing. • The essay must reflect your own style of writing and not made up of cut and paste material from different sources. This means that you should read the relevant literature, reflect on your reading and compose the essay in your own words. The use of Wikipedia as a reference source of published work is NOT PERMITTED in the assessment. You should use journal articles and books, as appropriate. • Budget for the project is $100 and payment will be made according to the quality of project.
