Freelance Web Developer

We are looking for a web developer to assist us with a growing and established business in the financial sector. Our company and website are developed and being used on a daily basis, however we are looking for someone to assist with further modifications and improvements as well as general technical advice. The company was founded almost a year ago, and during that time we have developed and implemented our website fully. Our main developer (also involved in their own, separate business) is now having a difficult time providing minor updates due to both work and personal responsibilities. We would like this new candidate to completely take over these duties under the wing of our main developer, who will be available to provide assistance when they can. Duties would include minor additions, changes or updates to the existing website code. The website is built using PHP (CodeIgniter framework) with a MySQL backend. Knowledge of PHP and MySQL is essential. Knowledge of CodeIgniter would be perfect, however for an able developer this could be something they could pick up in no time at all. Knowlege of cPanel and typical hosting administration (setting up/managing e-mail accounts, etc) would be beneficial as there may be the need to provide low level tech support to some staff members from time to time. We also have an Asterisk/FreePBX telephone network - knowledge of this would be highly advantageous however not required. This is a remote position, so working from home or your office is suitable. Our primary method of communication is via e-mail, however it would be beneficial if you are also comfortable talking with members of our team on the telephone now and again. You will not be required to speak to clients, and all communication will be internal. This is a brilliant opportunity for a developer, as we would like to bring someone in on a shareholder basis with a good percentage return. Please note that we are not a start-up looking to get their project online. We are an active and trading company, with website already developed, already generating revenue and continuing to grow at a steady rate. The industry we are involved in is currently worth £4.8 billion a year, and whilst we hold no delusions about the percentage of the industry we hope to obtain, the possibility for big returns is very real. We have proved our business model and existing website systems work, we just need some ongoing assistance maintaining and improving this! We are looking for a candidate with good communication skills, who can provide realistic estimations and targets for work completion. Because our website is already live and functioning, this is very much a "part time" position where you may receive some requests for changes every now and again. If I had to provide an estimation of the frequency of changes, I would say perhaps some a small change/tweak once a week (of course this is not guaranteed, just an average approximation). Whilst not a full time position, we would like a candidate who knows they have some time available to spend on this with us, or at least would be willing to dedicate some of their free time for such a big opportunity. Due to the nature of our business, candidates in the UK are preferred.
