The wear and expensive prospect of shut down for last minute repair and maintenance of equipment surely underscores the need for a preventative maintenance program that can meet the following guidelines: 1) cost (limited interruption/shut down of equipment) 2) simplicity (reducing necessity for highly skilled technicians) 3) scheduling (on a semi-automated routine that signals management for coming service) Generally speaking, by conducting a thorough review of the equipment involved in all aspects of the processing, and examining engineering documents with regards to recommended service intervals compared with actual needs and environmental conditions to establish the basic criteria for each piece of equipment's maintenance plan and then merge across all equipment via a simple program that allows for management/users to simply follow automated prompts for service. I would propose approximately three weeks of document review (remote is acceptable) of all technical documents associated with equipment on site, and a review of current communication policy/management procedures at the facility. At the completion of the review of information, I would produce a spreadsheet that would provide long term scheduled maintenance based on input hours of operation (thus scalable to actual use). Additionally, this could provide additional costing of the program by using time/cost data for establishing future budgets
