Answering your question, the thing is there are a lot of variables involved in this question, If I currently have the images then I would archive and compress them for easy transference because achieving will save me a lot of bandwidth and time. If the files are already on a server like a google drive then I would just forward them and share links to the respective party.

For the question you asked, I think it's better and faster if you have FTP access to download and upload the necessary images.
