Application department in SIH is the part of Engineering department. It takes care of all the tools management used in the production. The main responsibility of the Application department is to calculate the tool life and the cost incurred on the tools in the process. These can be maintained as reports, and are required for the management decision making. Need to keep track of actual machine cycle time and process cycle time. This calculated cycle time will be used to know the Labour cost and time required for the entire process of Production. With this analysis management can derive or take the decisions on buying new machinery or increasing the shift timing. They can analyze the trend of production during the high load and low load duration. Tool Drill consumption history on machine will help to calculate the cost of all the tools which are daily consumable in the production. The department needs to keep the continuous track of life of the tool against the one which is given by supplier during the trial run. The report is required to know if the consistency is maintained on the tool life. Same report needs to be sent to purchase department, so that they can decide on generating the purchase order with supplier. Consumption history is to be maintained for all the tools.
