With respect to my personal qualities, I am able to work at an optimum level even when under pressure. I am determined to carry out a task to completion and have good analytical skills, as a result of my studies and work experience. In addition to working well individually, I am also cooperative and am able to work well with a team as I enjoy communicating with others. My time at the Iraq Energy Institute has been particularly valuable, as my work involved reporting on news stories relating to the petroleum industry. My work led me to travel to Iraq and within the UK, reporting from both sites, requiring a flexible approach to my work and dramatically honing my journalistic skills.
In addition I have gained various valuable skills from my studies. As an undergraduate I read history which significantly developed my analytical skills, as well as my attention to detail; during this course, I constantly had to examine documents and works, sometimes with dubious or unclear sources, as well as assess events and the causes and implications of them. The master's course I took in political economy has allowed me to hone these skills further, while also substantially increasing my knowledge in politics, economics, the relation between the two, and the effects of policies on society.
I am able to write on a variety of subjects and am adept at finding information and conveying that information in a concise way while using my own words throughout.
