I want to hire an accountant who has skilled tax knowledge of the US tax system. I am an independent student and I work throughout the school year and over the summer on various internship programs. Through these jobs I earn in the ballpark of $20,000 USD per year. Additionally, I have an ongoing job where I contribute for an online travel blog. I am paid as an independent contractor. I am currently contemplating if I should continue to get paid as an independent contractor, and set up as a sole proprietor. My hope is that I can than claim business related expenses (and travel expenses) to reduce my annual income and pay as little taxes as possible. As I am sure there will be many bids on this project, I will have in introductory assignment where you will make an initial recommendation as to if I should 1.) Go the route of setting up as a sole proprietor or 2.) Ask to be paid as an employee of the blog and continue to receive the standard deduction. This project will continue past creating a sole proprietorship to continual tax advice throughout the year and into the future.
