VMware IT Engineer

We are looking for a VMware Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an experienced VMware engineer who is looking to make an impact in a quickly growing company. The successful candidate will report to the Sr. IT Director, and will be a member of a multi-disciplined team with responsibility to service, support and maintain Blackhawk’s VMware, NetApp and CommVault infrastructure. Responsibilities: Subject Matter Expert in VMware ESXi technology, VDI and related VMware technologies. Perform lead role in evaluating the environment and recommending architectural solutions to enhance the stability and supportability of current infrastructure. Experience in presenting to peers and management. Perform lead role in supporting and maintaining VMware environments and installations. Work with other Infrastructure Specialists, including Windows, Unix, Network Engineering, DBA and Security teams, to ensure best-of-class functionality of the Blackhawk Network virtual environment. Plan and perform maintenance. Lead implementation efforts for infrastructure maintenance and planned upgrades. Develop and document methodology for capacity planning to meet future infrastructure needs. Develop operational processes to improve stability and supportability of the infrastructure environment. Focus on preventative maintenance. Work outside immediate discipline to coordinate a group of people in troubleshooting a wide-scale problem; serve as point-of-contact across several areas or disciplines to solve major production problems quickly. Confidence to recommend actions and/or designs that will impact other units within the company. Participate in the Infrastructure Operations 24x7 on-call rotation. Perform data center activities, including physical installation and cabling of new hardware, as needed. Complete appropriate administrative responsibilities on time with minimal deviations or discrepancies. Experience in supporting the infrastructure environment within a corporate environment and customer facing services. Primary specialty in VMWare, VDI and ESX. Qualifications: Secondary specialty in either NetApp storage or CommVault backup. 5 or more years related experience required, with 3 or more years in technical and/or project leadership. Proven success leading projects and teams to successful delivery of expected results. B.A./B.S. in related field or equivalent required. Project management and/or ITIL experience. Certification preferred. Hands on experience with VMWare ESX/ESXi required, experience with NetApp storage highly desired. Working knowledge of Intel based server technology. Ability to adapt and overcome obstacles Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning. Define deployment objectives and monitoring overall implementation plan, timing, budget, and key milestones for multiple projects and operational objectives. Coach others in the execution of the testing, piloting, installation and implementation activities on schedule and within budget, and providing expertise when needed.
