In 2011 I took a job for a startup that's now international and worth $60b. One of my tasks was a cheap digital signage system for their lobby tv. I used the raspberry pi 1 and a private server. It was so successful that by 2013 they had several TVs on each floor and we scaled the system to AWS to support nearly 5000 TVs. I left the company shortly after but today they use the same system, untouched and have over 30,000 TVs internationally managed by the same AWS system
