There are 2 excel files:
- first one contains information about the contacts that belong to some company
- second one is the information about the companies that mapped to some manager and partner (the list of managers and partners is provided)
Generally, I need to update existing small Access based tool that is supporting in searching through the information in these files.
There are several subproblems:
1. The companies in the first file might be missing in the second one. So, kind of mapping functionality is needed so that the user is able to map a company from contacts file to the company in companies file. As result, this info should be saved.
2. Importing contacts / companies files – this will overwrite existing records
3. The contacts file contains information about the chirstmas card or calender sent to the contact in the specific year. NOTE: The information in stored in some columns that do not have specific syntax, e.g. it can be for 2016 – “Calender 2016”, “eCard 2016” and in 2017 – “Calender sent in 2017”, “eCard sent in 2017”. However, if needed – the column names can be changed as per specific syntax. There can be “Calender”, “eCard”, “Card” and “Comment” for any year. The functionality is to be added so that a manager can see what he or she has sent to the contact in some of previous years and decide, what should be sent in the current year (PARTIALLY DONE - look at the latest version of access tool – tmpDB in Managers Tab)
4. Deactivate column for the contacts, which is a checkbox for just making the font color red, so that it is clear that this contact is no longer important / left the company. (DONE – CHECK! - look at the latest version of access tool – tmpDB)
5. Export data for the selected contacts (DONE – CHECK! - look at the latest version of access tool – tmpDB)
6. Write letters to the selected contacts (DONE – CHECK! - look at the latest version of access tool – tmpDB)
7. Events. Need a functionality to add events (event name, date, country, city, address, comment) and add participants to these events. Also see the list of participants for the selected event and export list of participants.
8. Check all of the functionality so that it works error-free
NOTE: As an option can be reimplemented in Excel.

I have both excel and access experience. I could start his work for you in 2 days time.
Is it possible to link the contacts and company files together before importing them. For example, by using a drop down box in the contact spreadsheet to select the company. The drop down box being linked to the company file. It might be easier than having to go through all the contacts once they are imported into Access.
Another away around it might be to enter all the information through Access.
How do you currently amend contacts or companies is this done through Access? Is the import only used to add new contacts and companies?
Yes, I agree I think it is better to tidy up the syntax for the cards and calendars.
