Hello, I have built several e-commerce sites before. I've experience with Drupal Commerce and I think that that module/profile is the way to go in the newest Drupal version. I don't know if it's relevant for you, but I have also used Drupal Ubercart. It is sometimes used in older e-commerce sites.
