Your idea is OK, you just need to use a MOSFET to switch the +5V on/off and make a few changes to the sketch. Breaking the ground connection with the BD237 can cause problems. I can provide a simple schematic showing you what to do and a new progrm. Which Arduino board are you using for the Timer? Regards, Jim
