Searching in images & audios (What's your idea?)

My problem:
I have now a lot of files of images (jpg & png) and audios (mp3) in one map. Now if I want to search to a specific image or audio, I have to search between all those files and see the images one by one or listen to the audios also one by one.
The solution (your idea):
I need someone who can tell me how I can search and find what I want quickly. For example to use EXICTE software (of other company) or to create a SIMPLE script. With that script I can give the images and audios-files some metadata (tags). And after that I can use it in searching. I want to search using metadata or using a filter (sort by word/tags, by category, by date, …)
It must be possible to select more than one file (jpg/png/mp3) and add ; edit or delete the tags (metadata).
Of course if you have an better idea to solve this problem, you can also send me your proposal.
