Rails/Flex Web application

The goal of this project is to create a web application that will be based on a live desktop application that is built in .NET and interacts with SQL and an FTP server.

In essence, the application allows users to interact with information that is stored in SQL and also allows information to be FTP'd to a media server. The files that will be FTP'd include both image and movie files. The ideal solution would include a very basic image editing functionality as well as some extremely basic video options.

The application needs to be very simple to use; as many of the users are lacking in computer experience. I would prefer for the application to be built using Ruby on Rails or possibly a combination fo Ruby and Flex, as I would like for it to be graphically rich (furthering the ease of use aspect).

I can give many additional details for the serious coder. Please note that I am willing to listen to any ideas, so if you are interested in the proejct but do not think Rails/Flex is the proper method, feel free to share your interest.
