I would like a blog template slightly customized with a slideshow and logo

Here is the blog: You can see that the images do not show u...supposed to be a sliding gallery below the header. The featured content section never loads either. I think it might have something to do with the fact that I do not use the traditional wordpress way of adding photos to my blog posts, I upload them manually via ftp server, that way I can control the size that is posted (because I want the full width of the column to achieve maximum effect). I've been staring at the code all weekend, though, and I just don't have much more time to spend on this project myself. That's why I am looking for a little troubleshooting help. I will eventually switch to a prophoto blog, most likely. However this is what I am working with for the next few months.
