Having just retired at the end of June, I now have the time to indulge in one of my pet loves, Writing. Since I was a teenager in school, I was always keen on literature and writing. I have always had a penchant for languages, resulting in my achieving high Advanced Level grades in English, Maltese and Italian.
This proficiency in Languages helped me in no small way throughout my career. I have written monthly reports to my Board of Directors, detailing the Company's progress (or otherwise) and several ad hoc reports on particular subjects, which were always well received. During this period, I have also written detailed sales and marketing reports to our international Suppliers. Amongst these were Siemens and Whirlpool, amongst other less familiar names.
Apart from this internal reporting, I have handled a considerable volume of correspondence with external clients, dealing with a wide variety of subjects. Examples of this are technical reports to insurance and utility companies and detailed and, at times, complex correspondence with clients.
As the manager responsible for Customer Service, I would also at times submit our case to the Consumer Claims Tribunal, when it was impossible to come to a negotiated solution, and Arbitration would be the only way of resolving an issue with a client.
I now wish to use my writing experience as a way of keeping myself gainfully occupied. I am very interested in Current Affairs, national and international politics, sports (the English Premier Soccer League in particular), entertainment (movies in particular), cooking, and keeping fit and healthy.
In addition to the interests listed previously, I wish to re-sharpen my essay and creative writing skills, something I really excelled in. I believe I can produce fictional, argumentative and descriptive work, all of which I have done successfully in the past.
To conclude, I trust that I have succeeded in letting you have a clear glimpse of who I am and what I intend to achieve. I look forward to receiving positive news from you and to my first gig.
