This year we lead independent research on improving the design of the Hall effect thruster. We begin the initial phase of development on this project, and are continuing on for another year. In the initial phase, we confirmed the principles of the hall effect thruster by accelerating particles of a choice fuel source, creating a small amount of force that, after further refinement, can propel satellites in space. We are seeking to publish our research within a few months, and hope to have our satellite launched by 2018.

I cook, clean, wash dishes, take out the trash, sweep and mop, answer phones, cash out customers, maintain and make repairs around the building, install computer/electronic related items (including POS's, camera systems, and other related items) in addition to my typical driver duties. *Update - This location closed its doors as of August of 2020 due to covid-19 based financial issues and I no longer have a job here.*

Thermogenics Lab Internship

We researched the properties of different types of water ice and how they pose risks as for potential landing sites. Unfortunately the thermogenics lab has been placed under lockdown due to its location on a school site. We will continue our work, when safe, by testing and recording the unique properties of ice samples under compressive loads. This data will be used to create mathematical models for computer simulations of environments containing the various water ices.

My role on the team was chief engineer. During our time, we were tasked with designing a rover that could scan for important resources and retrieve them autonomously. I oversaw the team, and guided them in the design, construction and programming of our rover. Our rover was able to detect different mineral resources through optical spectrometry. I was awarded Most Valuable Player for our team, but I would like to acknowledge our success as a result of every team mates hard work.

During this internship we developed a working model of a particle accelerator. The model was used to demonstrate the concepts of Hall effect thrusters used on small satellites. We ionized particles of sublimed iodine and demonstrated it's charged state by subjecting it to magnetic fields. We found significantly greater concentrations of solidified iodine crystals in the vicinity of the magnetic fields versus anywhere else in the chamber. This resulted in my second U.S. Congressional recognition.
