In this project, you will be developing a web dashboard for a small production facility which will display metrics for the daily production and the schedule of work to be done. This webpage will be displayed on several large screen monitors throughout the facility that the production personnel will have visibility of to track their daily progress. I have attached an image of what the dashboard will look like.
The data is a mix of static, variable, and dynamic data, both numbers and text. Examples of the static data is the desired daily production (this will be set once per day and not change). Variable data is the actual current production amount throughout the day. Dynamic data shall be calculated from the variable and fixed data, for example production rate or percent yield.
Today, this is all maintained on an Excel sheet, updated several times throughout the day by creating a snip of the sheet and then posting this in wordpress as a picture. The TV's are setup as kiosks to refresh the webpage every 10 minutes to show new data. A single administrator handles this daily and as you can see this takes a lot of time to manage.
The deliverables for this project will be a fully functional, very simple dash board webpage, similar to the snip I have provided. This webpage should be optimized for full screen resolution matching the resolution of the host. It should also look appealing if it is brought up on a mobile device. Additionally, there shall also be provided a means for the administrator to quickly input the updated static or variable information. When an update happens, the dashboard should immediately reflect the new data and update its dynamic data. I would also like to display date and time on the dashboard, and perhaps time since the last update.
My preferences for this project, although I am open to better ideas, is as follows:
1) The website will be hosted on a wordpress build on a Linode cloud host, and accessed publicly. The personnel in the facility are comfortable working in wordpress.
2) The dashboard administrator, which may be a different person than the wordpress admin, will have the ability to modify the static and variable data
3) A wordpress admin will also be able to modify the data.
4) The use of add-ins (free or otherwise) should be kept to a minimum to prevent future issues.
5) The dashboard admin's app should be easily updated on an Iphone or Android via an internet browser. This will be the preferred means to update the data as this will be done live on the production floor.
6) The dynamic data field colors should be green if we are within -5% of the current target, yellow if the target is between -5% and -10%, and red if it is below -10%.
Additionally, I will be looking to add some other features in the future so I would like to partner with a freelancer for the long term on this. These features are as follows:
1) We should explore ways to connect the variable data to the data source. For example we may use a raspberry pi to collect the data from a PLC and then transfer this to the wordpress site.
2) There may be more machine specific dashboards created.
