Magento 1.6 - customized customer login

Hi,
We have a Magento 1.6 shopping cart that is working fine. We need to customize it a bit to FORCE users to login before they can see the shopping cart. I know - this is BAD usability, but this is what the store owner wants.

We need to create another login page similiar to this, and remove the header and footer, and also the Register box to the left.
Essentially we just need a blank screen with login form for registered customers. After the customer's userid/password is validated, we will send them to a stripped down version of the "My Account" page. It would display some basic customer information, with a button to "START SHOPPING" which would send them to the [login to view URL] page. And then they can see the store and all the products.
Please respond back and I will send you some HTML concepts of how these new login and customer account pages should look. Please let me know how much Magento experience you have too. Can you start today?
