Multiplatform App on Xamarin for IOS, Android and Windows Mobile
Overview:
I need to develop an app to display a hierarchy of items in two different ways: treeview and mapview. There will also be a table list with events info related to change state in the items, but that part I can easily take care of.
Each item has an icon and a label to represent it. Items can be in different states and we should be able to change both the icon and the label of an individual item without having to reload the whole tree or map. Also, I need to execute actions on each item, so when clicking on an item, a menu of actions must be displayed. The list of possible actions can change from one item to another and will be loaded when initializing the view. The items to display on the map will not necessarily be the same as in the treeview. There will be just one treeview, so all the elements are displayed on it, while there can be multiple maps and each one will only include some of the items. Also maps can display regions and labels that are not necessarily linked to any item. So you can see this as two separate components. Basically what I need is these two custom components: treeview and mapview as specified here. Otherwise I would do it all myself, but still starting with Xamarin and it would take me too much time for something that others can probably do quite easily.
The data to populate this application I will add later by connecting to a remote server to download the items info, receiving events with state changes and sending actions to execute on the items. That part I have it under control (I have that already working on Windows), but I haven’t been able to find components for treeview and mapview that do what I want on all mobile platforms.
The App must easily handle around 1000 items, especially on the treeview. Items will probably be distributed in different mapviews, so for the maps the usual number of elements should be around 100. One of the actions that will be able to execute when clicking on map items is to display a different mapview.
The rest of the application code I will do it in C# so I need it to be done for Xamarin. Native code in all different platforms will not work unless you wrap it in a component.
