Young kids love YouTube, but since they can't read, it's hard to
find their way around by themselves. This app would pair
Youtube videos with kid friendly icons.
Our app would offer kids the chance to use Youtube with a complete
lack of text. They can navigate with icons and/or thumbnails. It's all
pre-set by the parents, still it feels like they're in control,
The app should be run even on original iPad / iPhone 3G
The app should have two modes: Parent Mode and Kid Mode
PARENT MODE:
In Parent Mode the system has letters and text
Parents can pair YouTube searches with icons.
E.g. the parent chooses Tom & Jerry Cartoons
He can then take a prominent screenshot from a Tom & Jerry cartoon
and assign it to the search.
Icon Store: Parents can also instantly share their icon
with other parents who are on the system. So eventually no one
has to generate icons, people can just take them from the icon store.
We could also sell premium icons that are created by the team.
Parents should also be able to set the language of the videos
based on the child's mother tongue.
KID MODE:
Children can search for their favorite videos, but instead of typing letters
(since they can't read or write yet) they can choose from
a series of thumbnails which they can clearly identify.
These searches (alongside their thumbnails) can be set in parent mode.
Play any of the searched videos with the ability to loop their favorite part.
Favorite any videos they searched, so they can access them easily.
Access their YouTube playlists (set by the parents, same thumbnail system)
ADDITIONAL FEATURES;
There should be some additional social sharing features.
A free trial feature and then eventually a pay version
