<Technology Description>
This technology is a technology for drawing, with light, an indication mark which indicates a traveling direction of own vehicle onto a road surface in the traveling direction. There is a case in which whether to draw or not to draw the indication mark is controlled depending on a distance between own vehicle and a front or rear vehicle. One of the problems that can be anticipated in such a case is that, since various environments are conceivable as surrounding environments of the vehicle at the time of traveling, there are cases where the drawing of the indication mark is not appropriate other than a case where the distance to a front or rear vehicle is short. Thus, when the control of the drawing is performed just depending on the distance between own vehicle and a front or rear vehicle, appropriate drawing that takes into account the surrounding environment at that time cannot be performed. In addition, a misunderstanding may be caused or the indication mark could be bothersome depending on a timing at which the indication mark is drawn.
To solve this problem, this technology controls the drawing of the indication mark on the road surface such that the drawing is performed when a direction indicator of a vehicle is operating or when steering of the vehicle is being performed, and the drawing is stopped or a direction in which the indication mark is drawn is changed when predetermined conditions are satisfied. As a specific example, the drawing of the indication mark indicating that the vehicle is traveling to an oncoming lane is stopped when there is an oncoming vehicle. More specifically, the drawing of the indication mark is not stopped when the vehicle is located within a crossing. As another specific example, when changing a traveling lane, the drawing of the indication mark outside the lane to which the vehicle is changing is stopped. As another specific example, the drawing of the indication mark is stopped when the vehicle enters a sidewalk on a roadside to pass over the sidewalk and when the direction indicator is operating but steering is not being performed. As another specific example, the drawing of the indication mark is changed such that, when the vehicle passes over the sidewalk to enter the road, the drawing of the indication mark onto the sidewalk in a direction parallel to the sidewalk is prohibited, or the indication mark is changed to indicate entrance into a road.
