Konkurransesammendrag

I have a product and want to see what improvements can be made or a new way of thinking about the problem. I am open to all ideas- It is plastic- I may 3d print the next version so it can be complex. just fix the problems and i will try and get one made. This is a Hose Support for an RV Camper- it has an Accordion style plastic set up and extends out. Please take a look at photos of the product. here are alot of similar complaints- it is weak plastic, cheap, breaks easy, I want to make a system of linking pieces that hold up better---- Seems to be higher on one side and runs downward to keep the flow going--

this product has many problems i am trying to fix-
-Poorly designed, it falls apart fast
-the accordion style is weak and the parts on each end won't stay standing without supporting them
-Lightweight and compact, but connections break easily
-Works but not sturdy enough
-Wonderful concept, but not so good on quality; a couple hinges have already given way with only one use. Will be looking for a better quality support system.
-Handle/carrier was broken right out of the box.
- I would not recommend this product if you are dumping your tanks because the support is not that stable. I've tried several different ways of laying out the support when dumping and the hose always ended up coming out of the support. You are better off just laying the hose on the ground .
-This sewer hose support works but very flimsy, it keep falling over when the drain hose was emptying, not a very good product.
-it does what it was intended to do. not great on bumpy terrain
--falls over easy cant really hold much weight.

we want to change all these problems--

This took me about five minutes to fully understand and about two more for the solution, ya I know took a while, getting old. Anyway this problem might seem simple but this has multiple considerations such as first the obvious thing is the original is it's crap material and has weak joints. Then there is the issue of the weight making it fall over (stability). then on top you wish to have them linked which I surmise is to keep the storage space compact, the spacing when extended and the diameter in order? Nothing personal to all the submissions but none of them will work imo very well and definitely not without extra supports (in other words things that get lost) or aren't even much different then the product as it is. See part 2...

Part 3: I'm not going to post how I would do this because unless you have a shed load of money for tooling or know where to get it this project is not going to happen. What I will say to help for free is have a look at what is available already for hose supports (there is only one good type imo)and then think how to modify them (and here is the key) so they assemble easier onto the hose than they do now. There is one other type that is not a bad idea but looks flimsy to me. Good luck buddy :)

Part 2: It took me one google search to find this thing and also see the alternatives. From that I can clearly see which is the best design (no use starting from scratch) and then it's just a matter of how to modify that into something intended how you want to use it. I had the sturdiness, stability and assembly part figured out in moments and then it took another few minutes to figure out a way to link them. I don't think they need linking but from the perspective of Joe Blogs average user I can see how having a system to keep them in order for diameter and spacing would be useful. See part 3:

Hello I have plenty experience in product design, first than all I know that the status of your product it looks like this is plastic but maybe a low quality one, fast prototyping comes with many challenges, and materials are soft and easy to break. recommend you to move to prototyping with silicon molds about some of your questions:
-Poorly designed, it falls apart fast, it usally comes from material, harder material or design would be needed
-the accordion style is weak and the parts on each end won't stay standing without supporting them. yo can add calculated ribs to support
-Lightweight and compact, but connections break easily, doe to material, can make it thicker.
-Works but not sturdy enough. Check dimensions with stack up analysis
-Handle/carrier was broken right out of the box. definitely materials are cheap or hardly regrind.
--falls over easy cant really hold much weight. same structural analysis needed for load study.
