T-shirt

This is a single mesh object. My initial focus has been on modelling and getting the look of the piece right. I have separated the individual panels by vertex design and by material. I am a little unsure whether your requirement is for separate meshes (in a single object) or separate objects for each panel. Either way, that can be achieved with a few keystrokes before forwarding the file. Thanks for the opportunity and I look forward to your comments.

Yes, until the nature of the model (6 objects) was settled I just placed the mesh on the grid without much concern for layout. Just so I understand, you seem to be asking for me to align the UV with the grid, but the t-shirt panels are not grid shaped. This would introduce distortion into an image unless you have some compensating mechanism. For example, I can align the lower hem to row B, but then aligning the side seams to the columns will introduce stretch into the UV because the faces of the mesh are not perfect squares.

    Hi Ross,

Thanks for your submission. We do require separate objects for each panel because each panel will receive its own texture. 6 objects, 6 textures. The proportions on your model look good, but your UV is most important. Our workflow is a bit weird in that topology caters to the UVs. Hopefully this helps. Row B on the back of the shirt should follow the curve of the end of the shirt, the same goes for Row C of the front. On the left sleeve, Row I needs to wrap evenly along the cuff of the sleeve, the same goes for whichever Row is for the right sleeve. I think the right sleeve might be rotated differently in your UV quadrant than the left since it has a column along its cuff. For the side seams of the front and back, Columns 2, 5, (I can't see other side due to specularity) should evenly follow the edges of the geometry.

Our models aren't for games or VFX, but are meant to be customized by clients with no 3D knowledge. Hence the special UV work.
