Hi, I am an XML expert (over 15 years full time XML experience) Full time professional XML freelancer. no student, nothing fake (google resume for geert bormans XML). I have done various similar projects (XML to MS Word and back) That works OK depending on the data and how the translaors stick to the templates. There might be other ways. In a current DITA projects we are dealing with translators / editors in over 30 languages with very complex documents and the authors use a very simple but easy to use XML authoring environment (that we set up so it looks like MS Word). I think we can create online application where we will list all the xml file. user have to select XML file which he needs to edit for description. I will give an ability to edit the description from editor. user will edit the description and then save it so that description will be saved to that XML again. Hi Have worked on similar data conversions from XML to other formats before. In this case can use a freeware ETL tool which will convert the XML data to an excel format. These tools allow easy conversion without much of coding. Once these are converted to excel the same can be translated and then again the excel can be fed to the ETL tool which will convert the excel back to XML with ease. We have worked on projects where we have converted such XML in to excel or directly in to a database for further processing. NUmber of records processed was in lakhs and was done with ease. Hi, I am very much interested in this project. I have more than 20 years of software development experience and most of the work involves web services and XML. I have worked on projects where email is coming with XML data and its parsed and entered to database. I have experience in getting the web services data in XML format for iPhone/iPad application and the XML is parsed using Objective C and the data is displayed in the screen. In this particular situation, I feel that my experience with XML can really help. For this particular project, I have a clear idea about the approach to be used. If the XML format of the documents are going to be standard and going to be consistent, the following approach can be used 1) if the xml documents are coming with a standard format, using FTP(programmatically) the files are pulled and the application can extract the data from XML and can be added to Excel document or even to a database 2) Once the translation is completed and stored in excel , then those files can be read and create XML document and can be programmatically uploaded to any FTP site. If its added to database, then it can be pulled programmatically and XML documents can be created and upload to FTP site I really feel that I can work on this and some of the automation can help to reduce the amount of hours to be spent. I'm a bachelor in Computer Science, all my studies were made in english and i have technical skills on IT You will have lots of documents, do you know the schema for those xml files ? Maybe the best way, would be to open them in a XML editor, and perform a direct human translation.. to maintain the integrity of the all document. But i can also use Office if you would prefer. Once you do not know how many words they will have, the best explanaton i can do, is that i can work 30 h per week, and devote my next few months translating your files DO you have a deadline for this project? If you need a 5 star translation, then hire a native portuguese for the job
