Help Fix my website (Wordpress & Google cloud server)

The website is Wordpress run on a google cloud server. Full root access will be given to you. Because I'm on a google cloud server I'm not sure how to set things up or edit things properly. I'm used to using cpanel on a vps. I have many things that need to be done but I have these 2 in the immediate.
1) Install and setup FTP access to main directory
2) Fix error on wordpress (Updating failed. You are probably offline.).
This happens anytime I want to update a post or page
I've read it could be because of the site URL but because I'm using a Bitnami Google cloud installation I'm not able to edit the url through WP and it must be done manually.
Please let me know if you can do this and how long do you estimate it'll take to complete. People who take time to respond and not copy and paste will be contacted.
