Translation of an online travel agency website. Source language: English Target language: Afrikaans Volume: 22.000 words Immediate start Offers from native speakers of the target language will be accepted only. The project will consist of two stages: - translation (1st translator), - proofreading: check and corrections of the live version of the website (2nd translator). We would like to receive: 1) your best quote - cost/per word rate and time frames - for translation only (22.000 words), 2) your best quote - cost/per word rate and time frames - for proofreading only - checks and corrections (22.000 words). 3) a brief description of your experience. Please specify whether you include Elance fee and VAT in your offer. Project details: We use an online platform called Transifex for organising our translations. Both the first and the second translator (first the translator and after that the proofreader) will perform translations and corrections directly through this platform. Please bear in mind that some strings (separate words/phrases/sentences/paragraphs) contain parts of html code which should remain untranslated (e.g. %{distance} km from destination - in this case you do not translate the part of the code (%{distance}) and only translate the rest of the phrase). You will receive a comprehensive guide describing the usage of the platform in detail and will be provided with constant support during the translation process. Hi, I'm an Afrikaans-speaking South African currently living in Guatemala. I have extensive experience as translator and proofreader in the South African publishing industry, where language practitioners have to pass stringent tests before they can start working. (Simply being able to speak the language does not make one a good translator or proofreader.) The South African going rate per word for professional translation into Afrikaans is about $0.04, so I've based my bid on that. For proofreading, I'd charge between $1 and $2 per 500 words, depending on how 'clean' the copy is. (A bad translation takes much more time and effort to fix.) My bid rates are all-inclusive. I'd love to work on this project with you, in either capacity. I'm passionate about my language and hate to see mangled versions of it. (Most Afrikaans speakers I know would rather read text in English than bad Afrikaans.) I'd be happy to do a sample translation or proofread for you to show that I really am a professional.
