The Quota Investigations Company (QICo) monitors the ways in which natural resources are used around the world. Their head office is located in three buildings on a single site in Chelmsford. Their network infrastructure was created thirty years ago and is severely limiting their ability to meet their business goals. They have found a source of funds that will allow them to totally redesign the infrastructure. The company is considering using virtual desktops (Desktop-as-a-Service) running on thin or zero clients. QICo have around 120TB of data that they keep on a range of file servers. The funds they have will also allow them to replace the aging servers. QICo has been able to arrange two internet connections from two different ISPs to provide some fault tolerance. In order to ensure that the infrastructure is manageable and facilitates high level of security it is intended to subnet the infrastructure with each department allocated its own subnet. The CIO is very much a traditionalist and is expecting a subnetting solution that is based on IPv4. It may however be possible to convert him to IPv6. The table below indicates the number of end devices in each department and the building in which it is located. You should make an evaluation as to the benefits and possible issues related to DtaaS. There should be a recommendation as to whether this would be an appropriate technology for a company such as QICo. Compare and contrast the use of NAS and SAN technology for the replacement QICo servers. Identify two devices of each type that could be considered appropriate for this scenario and provide a justified recommendation as to which type of server technology should be selected. Use Packet Tracer to present a network design for QICo. Each department should be represented by a single switch (i.e. a single switch per subnet) Include a table that identifies each of the subnets in the network design along with the IPv4 subnet address, subnet mask and range of host addresses. (note - it is possible to come up with a solution that uses fixed sized subnet masks and a good mark can be achieved by doing so. Top marks are available for those who demonstrate VLSM skills.) Compare and contrast the use of IPv4 and IPv6 for this scenario. Include a table like the one for task (3) above but utilising IPv6 addressing. Your report must be well presented with correct spelling and grammar. The style must be appropriate for the intended audience. There must be evidence of research and where this research is used within the report it must be properly cited using the Harvard referencing standard. The reference list included must also conform to the Harvard standard. Appendices should be used to provide additional supporting evidence for which there is no room in the main body of the report.
