We are currently recruiting for a Contract Production Editor to fill an exciting position within our owned and operated publication ITProPortal with opportunities to work with other parts of the business. Position Overview Contract Production Editors are responsible for maintaining our owned and operated publication ITProPortal.com. The Production Editor will be responsible for managing content from commissioning through to publication with a focus on optimising content to ensure maximum exposure both on and off site. The Production Editor will be expected to achieve set targets and strategic objectives. Day-to-Day tasks: Source news stories and prioritise in terms of which will generate most traffic Ensure content is published in a timely manner. Assist in finding and managing freelance writing team. Edit and proof-read freelancers news stories Manage incoming guest blogs, create process for their management and automate. Manage client campaigns - involved in planning, execution and post-campaign stages. Responsible for SEO in relation to all content published. Tweak titles and articles for maximum SEO impact to increase site traffic. Feed back to freelancers to ensure continuous improvement. Proactively manage all content posted on Social Media channels. Liaise and manage relationships with PRs that result in exclusive content for ITPP Proactively commission/organise/create non biased podcasts and videos with subjects giving the listener/viewer insight into an industry, not just the subject’s company. Source content from third party publications Occasional long form article writing Construct and send the daily newsletter Source daily deal and produce affiliate deal related content Monthly/Ongoing tasks: Be responsible for monthly freelance budget Optimise monthly freelance budget to balance news and longer-form content Create and organise process for management of team to optimise costs and content delivery. Look for and source new avenues for content (3rd party, Guest blogs, new writers) Provide weekly reports for page view management and optimisation of content published Attend events and develop ITProPortal’s reach in other avenues e.g. FinTech, Startups (out of hours) Attend events to report on stories and find content (interviews/news stories/ features) Look for ways to increase site revenue, impact, industry perception Liaise out-of-hours with PR to maintain/create meaningful mutually beneficial relationships Essential Skills/Traits: Ability to communicate in an engaging manner both in person and in writing Ability to network effectively Constantly evaluate decisions to look for improvements Back-up said decisions with data or provide metrics to measure effectiveness Ability to see a situation/story/strategy from a variety of perspectives Ability to see through “sales” talk and what’s just marketing An understanding of the publishing landscape Negotiation technique Entrepreneurial spirit Business mind-set Assertiveness
