Hi, thank you for the invitation at the bid of your project. for your project I can do the follow activities : - brainstorming - problem setting - market research - possible competitors - definition of features - concept sketching - problem solving - 3d modeling- skin of product on real scale in order to think about ergonomic measurements. - 2d CAD drawing with measurements. at this point you have the "concept of the product"; you can build a mockup in order to verify the real volume of the product and think better about the configurations. About mechanic components will be defined approximately if complex because at the end you need to see on real. At that point you can decide if you need an engineer for that or not. Anyway with the mockup and 3d model, you have all the things that the engineer will require you for possible engineering of mechanic components (he can't calculate on approximate sketches). On this process is not included the CMF design, because only after that you end the prototype you can work on the colour combination etc... it is one of the final steps.
