Update PHP mail script to send via AWS Simple Email Service (SES)

I have 16 years of experience in Web Hosting, server administration and php programming. I can do OPTION 2, send PDF as attachment. I worked with Amazon SES before. What PHP version on the server ? We need PHP 5.6 or newer for SES PHP API.

Hi There I'd rather suggest to use both Options. Because in some cases the user might not be able to view/download the PDF from the mail client, then he can just use the URL instead to view it in browser or even download. I've one just 1 question, will the PDF be generated by the same codebase that sends the email? And is the site hosted in AWS? If yes then the overall workflow can be made even more simpler. Hello, I have done multiple similar scripts here on Freelancer. I would like to make a demo script for you which will email PDF file as attachment via SES. You can test it first and if it works as it should you can award me for the project. Please note that sending PDF file is better option since if you share unique URL each time someone downloads the file you will be charged for downstream traffic. If you have high traffic demands this can make a difference in monthly invoice. ---- Edit: I forgot to ask how big PDF files usually are? Will they fit in most of the EPSs? You could use PHPMailer class for this purpose. Configure the SMTP part from your Amazon SES credential, and you could attach any files, including PDF, in easy. That's it. One day work only

Hi, Do you have a sample of your PHP mail script? I can update the SMTP mail for you and include the AWS which has a random string (token) or just include the PDF inside the email. Either way, you're it will be your final decision whichever you like the most to suit your needs.

I am a professional developer and I just finished a project based on PHP/SES. And would recommend Option 2. 1. cost - do not have to maintain the service or spend money on the bandwidth. 2. privacy - what if the links are shared to the public 3. cost - To implement Option 2 is relatively cheaper

I can implement either option 1 or 2 but would go with 2 as it will be less code to manage and that is the most common way of ensuring that the PDF is read in the email. I'm keen on getting to read the code you've written. AWS SES is moderately easy to use with the official PHP SDK. I have previously worked with PHP for many years, AWS for a couple of years and AWS SES in particular for two different applications/uses(one of which utilized mail attachments in the form of PDFs).
