Modifying a responsive photo gallery template to play video as well

Dear freelancers,
I recently purchased a license for a photo gallery template. I want it to play videos as well.
I only require the 4 column gallery, nothing else from this template.

I can open a video but not in a real fancybox (or alike) window. And then the video cannot be closed.
I want videos to run in a fancybox (or alike) window - just like the photos. And of course the possibility to close that window manually.
All videos to be played are 640 x 360. Éverything needs to be responsive.
The documentation says the template is based on the 960 grid system.
