Our church seeks a Squarespace website developer to help us build and maintain our church's website. We are a small church so you will be working directly with our Pastor, Admin Asst, and development team. You will be responsible for creating 4-5 new web pages on a new Squarespace website. Also, you will be responsible for developing new features from scratch (online church directory, video capability, and taking online payments). This project will involve communicating and working with the above-mentioned church employees to successfully deliver a finished project that meets our requirements within 2 months. Write well-designed, testable, efficient code by using web development best practices and functionality Create basic website layout and user interfaces with PHP, Java, and Python that can be updated as needed Integrate data from various back-end services and databases Gather and refine specifications and requirements based on technical needs Create and maintain software documentation Be responsible for maintaining, expanding, and scaling our site Stay plugged into emerging technologies and industry trends and apply them to operations and activities Ability to use web design and graphic design to realize visual design intent on website Write Squarespace code by using Squarespace APIs Qualifications and Skill Sets The desired candidate has: A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or 2+ years of experience in back-end development or full-stack development preferred Proficiency with JavaScript, Python, Java, and PHP. Familiarity with Squarespace and related Squarespace products Familiarity with version control and website design Experience with relational databases, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and/or SQLite Familiarity with test-driven and agile development practices Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
