UpdateDB modification / excluding certain files

On my file system i have UpdateDB (locate) for searching files. As the file system is getting larger and its directories, is there any way the config file can be rewritten so its excluding certain file endings (like .txt should not be listed) as there are around 20M txt files which i don't need to have in the UpdateDB. I know i can use prunepaths etc but this is not working. If you can do this job than hit me up. Linux file server. The file i think needs a rewrite is /usr/bin/updatedb The command than should like something: updatedb -y '*[login to view URL]' -l 0 -U /home/folder/ -o /home/database where y is the special command which should not include all files in the database containing *[login to view URL]*

Hello, The updatedb command can be configured in the updatedb.conf. You can exclude by file type, file system type mounts, or paths. I should be able to get this configured to use less space in a couple of hours. If you have a list of files, I can build off that, or i can help suggest locations to prune.
