to record a document in the clerk's office

The clerk refused to accept my document to record it in the land of records because she said that I need to add initials to the certified copy. It is in the property laws she said. I believe that is mutilation of the document. I don't want to change anything just add a certificate of acknowledgement to the certified copy and record it in MD. That's it.
