Hi Alex,
I am very intrigued by the project discription for this job offer for a virtual assistant and by the description of your book publishing company in general and I would be honored to be considered to fill the position. Reading and writing are both passions I've had since childhood, so I have a love of all books and great deal of respect for the industry as a whole. Publishing was something I had at one time considered trying to get into myself however didn't have the capitol so I never went too far with the idea, but the interest in it never went away.
My highest earned degree is a BA from the University of Minnesota with a major in Spanish Linguistics and a minor in Chican@ Studies, and I also earned a AS in Business Management prior to that. I am proficient in the Microsoft Office software as well as Google Docs and Sheets, somewhat familiar with Adobe Photoshop and Acrobat, am comfortable using a variety of Social Media platforms as well as SEO though I may be a little rusty and need to read up on current standards. I did run a clothing and jewelry shop on Etsy selling things I handmade for a while, so promoting and networking online were things I had to learn about and use to sell my products. It didn't last because I was juggling it with a full time job, 2 children, a boyfriend and a home; but it sure taught me a lot about online business and small business startup.
I spent 10 years working for a small business owned and operated by my family. We do metal spinnings, a form of lathe work where sheet metal is spun somewhat how pottery is spun but up against a tool or pattern to shape it. I worked in the office and at one point or another did just about every job there was possibly to be done other than actually spinning the metal. From answering phones and sorting mail to implementing a new software system to sales quotes to purchashing and inventory maintenance to creating and maintaining a consignment program for a customer. I learned a lot about the manufactuing industry, small business administration and business in general working there.
I feel this position would be a great fit for me and my life as I am a very detail oriented person, very disciplined and capable of working from home and keeping things organized and managing my time to ensure tasks are completed. I also need to be available at certain times to drive my children to and from school so I need the flexibility of setting my own schedule and sometimes working odd hours. I also feel that I would be a good candidate for the position for some of the same reasons plus I have a passion for what your company does and the opportunity would be exciting and fun rather than seem like work. I believe my skillset would make me a good fit for the position and that I could do well with the type of work required. I do also feel I am qualified and motivated to work hard and accomplish what would be needed to move up within the company in time.
