I have a dedicated server that has 5 IP's under 1 interface. I want to setup my linux (Ubuntu Server) to bind a specific IP to a user account, application, or process. What ever option is possible. We can create 5 user accounts and bind them to specific IP's. Hi, Do you think this is possible.? By the way you can do something with IP rule and Iptables. But need to understand what you are trying to achieve. We can set rules based on traffic, but not sure about usernames. Thank You Just checked - IP tables have uid selector, may be we can achieve your requirement.

The user configuration can be achieved configuring certain files like /etc/profile and /etc/bashrc; by modifing those files we can configure the machine as the user is logged. The network configuration can be made with certain commands, like "ip" or "ifconfig", or configuring the "/etc/network/interfaces" file, but it may be complicated to modify if there are more than one user. The best solution as I can see is creating a shell script that can modify the ip acording to the user logged
