When I saw this entry, I simulated this situation in virtual machine (centos 7) and I rescued the shadow file. If you care we can rescue the file.

Greetings! Just don't worry... there's a backup of the shadow file in /etc/ with the name shadow- Copy that and name it as shadow and you are done :)) If you want me to do that, let me know. Thank you Ganesh D.
