Need Help Setting State within API callback in React Project

I'm fairly new to React, so I'm still learning how to bind elements and when and where I can set the state. I think for an experience React developer, this task can be completed in under an hour. Please look at the attached screenshot to see you know how to set the state properly after the API callback.
More details:
I am trying to configure authentication in a React app using Microsoft Azure Active Director B2C. I'm using the [url removed, login to view] library to make the API call. I'm able to login and receive an authentication token and save it to local storage. I would like to set the state from within the API callback where the authentication token is returned. I am open to setting the state another way, but it seems like this approach will work if I set the state properly.
I've attached a screenshot that shows the configuration. The app is stored on bitbucket. If you are awarded the job, I can you to the repo or share the project on dropbox.
