We use Activiti as an orchestration tool for running some particular rules during data processing. Our core logic is built using Spring and JPA/Hibernate as persistence layer. The problem we have is that when we process millions of records, Activiti is running each particular instance as a single entity and therefore hitting the database heavily. We are looking for a solution where we can run the same data in batches so we improve the performance by reducing the I/O operations (the same way we do it with our own data via Hibernate transactions and batch processing).
